This article presents an analysis of patrimoniali-zation process of the José Celso Cláudio’s private collection at the Arquivo Público do Estado do Espírito Santo (Apees). It also explores the potential of photography as a source for the history of education and discusses the topic of organizing personal collections and their institutionalization in public archives.
