This article aims to discuss the access to primary sources in the writing of history, taking into account the digitalization of archives catalogues around the world. Thus, it discusses the availability of documentation on the internet and the inherent limitations behind the mediation exercised by the digital technology. Reflection on working with digitized historical sources is necessary, given their immateriality.
