The article examines the collection Cabinet of d. João VI, in the custody of the Arquivo Nacional. The documentation originates from reserved writings, belonging to the then regent and later king. The idea is to pay attention to the collection as an object of research, highlighting the trajectory of the papers and demonstrating the possibilities for specific research, which can highlight d. João VI's government action priorities in the administration of the Portuguese empire from the city of Rio de Janeiro.
