This article proposes to present the educational limits and potential of personal archives. From the discussions of the field of regional history and its insertion in the national and municipal curriculum, we aim to point out some possibilities from Godofredo Tinoco collection for the theme of tenentismo in Campos dos Goytacazes. Thus, we also considered the intermingling of the municipal law that determines the regional elements to be included in the disciplines.
