“Preserve the performing art’s memory”: projects and policies for performing art’s memory in Brazil (1974-1990)

Abstract

In this article, we analyze how the memory was strategically mobilized during the reformulation of the Serviço Nacional de Teatro (SNT) in 1974, when the dictatorship incorporated culture into its political agenda. We also addressed the importance of the continuity of the Projeto Memória and the Campanha de Doação for the implementation of the Centro de Estudos Nacional de Artes Cênicas (Cenacen) in 1982. Finally, we evaluate the circumstances of the end of the Campanha (1990).
