Through intellectual history and discourse analysis we seek to examine the changes imposed on Salazar’s regime, through the new situation resulting from the period after the Second World War. Under attention in the statutes referring to the colonies, specifically those of 1941 and 1954, and in the works of Gilberto Freyre and Ploncard D’Assac, is the objective of understanding the strategies of Salazarism to perpetuate itself in power and preserve its territorial possessions.
