Paul Valéry’s critique of museums is presented, followed by the concept of the “document” by Marcel Mauss and Bataille. With Foucault the museum is thought of as heterotopia. Next, two exhibitions by the artist Leila Danziger are exposed as a basis for thinking about the new status of art as anarchivation (archival anarchy) and montage, curating the “self”.
